| Never in my wildest dreams as a kid growing up would I have imagined that I'd be interested in photography. I think it's pretty safe to say that most photographers don't pick up a camera and shoot with the expectation to strike it rich. Growing up I'm pretty sure I wanted to be an actor, a pop star, or something that would see my face plastered in all the teen magazines. I always thought that I would just get plucked from the street and asked if I'd be interested in acting, and that I'd become an instant, overnight sensation. Needless to say, that never happened. I was never an artistic kid (in the traditional sense), and twenty years ago, it just wasn't "cool" to be a photographer. I was more into breaking things and taking them apart. I guess you could call the reassembly "artistic". It wasn't until my early twenties that I even owned my own camera, and this whole photography thing was really an accident. Coming back from a trip to Bali in 2005, I had one, maybe two decent/accidental shots, and from there I was hooked. My passion and love for photography is intertwined with my passion and love for travel. While traveling the globe, my camera and I are near inseperable. There's a lot in my life that I'd like to accomplish before I kick the bucket, and being the teacher I am, I felt the need to break them up into several manageable goals: 1 Year Goals · Marry the woman of my dreams! [July 20, 2012] · Discover Sri Lanka 2 Year Goals · Explore the possibility of teaching internationally · Exposure, exposure, exposure! 5 Year Goals · Get paid to do what I love...take photos! · Take a 14 month leave from work to travel! · Touch down on 6 continents |
